The Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer is responsible for resolving all of the technical aspects of any part of the sales process, be it a pre-sale proposal to prospective partners, the migration of a confirmed sale or the introduction of new product offerings to existing partners. The Solutions Engineer is the critical link between the partner's technical environment and people and Hostopia's, ensuring that the hardware/software/platform configurations, migration plans and overall technical project milestones are in alignment and met. Acts as the subject matter expert concerning topics such as E-Mail, Web, Migrations, Email Migrations, application offerings, implementations, API integration, system design.

Accountabilities:
- In partnership with the Director, Business Development (new partners) or Account Managers (existing partners), provides the technical expertise to solidify and close a proposal. Leverages product knowledge, in the areas of product demonstrations, proof of concepts, system design, migration overviews and training/education during the pre-sales process, overcoming objections and displaying integration proof of concepts to close sales deals. Recognizes and solves for non-standard contract/project requirements.
- In partnership with the Project Management Team, orchestrates the technical activities and timelines associated with the implementation of a sale within a partner. This includes the definition and communication of project plans (Partner/Hostopia), migration strategies and solution paths and ensures successful implementation through the sale and beyond. Responds to and resolves any technical issues that arise. Ensures that partners are kept up-to-date and involved.
- Provides the technical sales expertise to support marketing activities, be it channel or partner, by conducting demonstrations and technical presentations of Hostopia's services and products at trade, partner or industry events. Responsible for the management of demo accounts.
- Responsible for representing the sales perspective to the Technology Group's development initiatives and enhancements. Identifies design, concept, product or technologies that will impede sales success and works to overcome obstructions.
- Remains current and knowledgeable with Project Management, project plans, SOWs, partner facing collateral, standard practices and procedures. Adapts where necessary and ensures any changes are absorbed seamlessly into the sales process, materials and communications.
- Accountable for ensuring that the technical, asset, collateral and time objectives of projects are met. Ensures that budgets, purchases, resource allocation (technical/human) and project initiatives are reasonable, aligned and executed within the confines of a thorough and discipled plan.
- Represents Hostopia.com as an industry leader to competitors, customers, suppliers, professional colleagues and employees. Keeps abreast of technology, industry, consumer, customer, legal developments or trends that may impact the Company. Maintains a high level of personal professionalism.

Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in IT
- 3-5 years experience in Technical Sales
- Proven initiative and ability to champion a project from conception through to implementation
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Experience in managing customer relationships
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of the telecommunications and/or web services industry
- Strong creative, analytic and organization skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of technical sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases and technically close deals
- Broad understanding of competitive existing and emerging products and technologies
- Ability to articulate and understand the potential/existing partners strategies and Hostopia’s solution strategies to a technical level of detail for effective market launch
- Ability to defuse complicated technical and political situations with prospective/existing partners
- Must be flexible, dependable and capable of quickly learning new strategies and technology directions of various projects.
- Must be prepared for extensive travel (50% to 70% traveling). Local, National, and International travel to prospective and current partner sites in support of pre sales efforts
